Fashion For a Good Cause

I love The Honest Company. I’m also a huge fan of edgy, innovative designer Rebecca Minkoff. They have joined forces for an exclusive collaboration and I couldn’t be more excited! Rebecca and Honest co-founder Jessica Alba recently traveled to a small village near Lake Atitlán in Guatemala to source out textiles. During their trip, they witnessed first-hand the arduous process of creating these fabrics from the boiling pots of water containing the plant leaves used to dye the yarns to the wooden looms employed to loom each fabric.

The objective of their trip was to create a beautiful new diaper bag and clutch using one-of-a-kind fabrics woven in the Mayan tradition, on foot loom, by a cooperative of a dozen women artisans who depend on this handiwork for their livelihood. In honor of this collaboration, Rebecca Minkoff and The Honest Company have provided sustainable support to these female entrepreneurs in Guatemala, fueling their textile businesses.

To help bring to life the business that these artisans have developed, the multi-talented starts have also collaborated with FINCA, an organization that helps alleviate poverty globally, create jobs and raise the standard of living for women and their families. Honest first shared the exciting collaboration on their Instagram page with a video showing Alba and Minkoff in Guatemala shopping for textiles.

The result of their meticulous craftsmanship can be seen in this beautiful medium sized lightweight clutch made from natural leather and hand woven textiles from the Guatemalan city of Sololå. It holds your everyday essentials such as keys, cell phone, wallet, hand sanitizer, and your signature lipstick. Made exclusively for style and function, it’s both fashionable and practical and a great accessory to dress up any outfit.
